Back on a GS

Well its taken 3 and a half years but I now feel I can ride the bike I really want, the R1200GS LC, I sold the 701 and bought a two year old GS with just 3000miles on it and virtually every extra fitted.

With BMW offering 2 years factory warranty on secondhand bikes as well as new it was a no brainer. The bike has come with cruise control, keyless ignition, quick shift, LED lights all round, Akrapovic exhaust, engine bars, tinted screen and uprated comfort seats. I can't tell you how happy I am with it, I love it, since I got it I have fitted wider footrests fro SWMotech, a dual layer rear brake from a GSA, a adjustable gear lever, Touratech reinforcements to the engine bars, MRA airflow deflector, and my favourite thing the Hexacan electronic controller, this has let me fit spot lights and a charging point under the seat with minimal wiring. For navigaton I have replaced the montana with a BMW Nav 6, this is controlled by the wheel on the handle bars and works really well.

For luggage I have vary panniers, not the most robust but they are the most convenient, I use that with either my giant loop rogue bag or my old lomo bag.

Well in three months on and Ive tripled the milage from 3000 to 9000 miles, a trip to BMW Motorrad days in Garmisch Partenkirchen and another trip to the Pyrenees has soon racked the miles up.
At the 9000mile service I had hill start control added, not sure if it is a waste of money yet and only time will tell. The next thing is wire wheels, better start saving!
