France 2017

Well we had four to five great days riding through France and Germany, me and three good friends Mo, Myles and Trev.
The 701 performed faultlessly, and kept with the big bikes on the mountain passes no problem at all. Cruising at the French legal limit (81mph) was no problem either.

The roads around the Vosges mountains are great,  for a long weekend the Vosges represents a good proposition, if you push it you can be there in a day and its not far from the B500 and the Black Forest roads.

For this trip we were staying in Premier Class motels, clean and good value so there was no camping gear required. This meant I just took my Kriega kit which consists of a R15 rucksack, RUCKSACK all that way! I hear your shout, yes and I can hardly feel it on, I only carry my clothes and camera gear and its no problem at all. The other is the US10 pack, this is attached to the rear of the seat via loops fastened under the seat, I have it as far back as possible, covering the fuel cap, I then just unclip it to refuel.

I also have a Kriega stash which is like a large wallet, I use this for my passport and important documents like insurance, logbook etc. Its not guaranteed waterproof so it lives in a waterproof pocket in my Klim Overland trousers.
